A RECORD BREAKING MEET AT RETAMA PARK

As we look back on results from the very successful meet that just ended at Retama Park, there were a substantial number of new track records set.

The latest one was by Djet Set De Falgas, who won a $7,500 allowance race November 1. Djet Set ran the 7 furlong distance in 133.41. Second place in that race was Nordik Star, who had set a new track record back on August 20th at Retama for the 6 furlong distance, 1:18.29.

Another track record was set September 20, 2006 when By Golly Sand went the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:26.13.

And, on September 28, 2006, Tour De France set a new record for 1 1/16 miles, 1:56.59.

About the Winner:

Owner, Eric Moreau-Sipiere explained, "I saw the sire of DJET SET, ELIOS DE CARRERE, a few years back in France and was absolutely blown away by his conformation and his pedigree. ELIOS is a multiple race winner and set the 10f Track Record at Nad El Sheba in Dubai. Then I found out that he was retired from racing and was leased by the French National Stud to stand in Pompadour for his first season at stud. I decided to find a few very good mares to breed to him.

"We chose DJET SET's dam to breed to ELIOS, to create a very heavy MANGANATE line breeding. The purpose here was to create a horse to cross over our KADOR DE BLAZIET and RUBIS DE CARRERE daughters. (DJET SET's dam is out of RUSZABA DE RAYNES- a mare my parents bred in France many years ago making her a strong personal choice).

"DJET SET was imported as a yearling with another ELIOS DE CARRERE filly, KIOS CS. (KIOS CS was bred in Italy out of a RUBIS DE CARRERE daughter. KIOS is presently in foal to LINE DANCER for next year). DJET SET was started in training by Elizabeth Brand and won 2 races, his maiden in Texas and a Allowance in Delaware at 1 Mile. Then he started to have a few problems, and we decided to bring him home and breed some mares this year (7 mares), and give him time off."

Co-owner, Randi Moreau-Spiere added, "While in Delaware last year, Djet Set had contracted a mis-diagnosed hoof infection. When we got him home, we started the proper treatment and it took about 8 months for the hoof to grow out. It was a good time to start breeding mares since he was home and could not do much anyway. He came back from Delaware early September 2005, and went to Liz (trainer Elizabeth Brand) first week of September 2006. Liz has done a great job bringing him around fast, but not too fast."

Eric said, "We decided with Elizabeth that it was time to see if he wanted to be a racehorse again. Now we will see how far he will want to go. We plan to bring him back early 2007 to breed some mares, and then go back to training early spring. Elizabeth did a fantastic job with him.

"DJET SET DE FALGAS has a very powerful genetic breeding to produce the MANGANATE sire line , we are anxious to see his first foals early January out of 2 RUBIS DE CARRERE daughters."

Winning Trainer: Liberty C. Lebrun

About the winner: Gizmoson Fire was a first time starter, and broke awkwardly from the gate which is not unusual for a horse's first time. Then she ran 5 wide most of the race, eventually making it to 4 wide. That wasn't so unusual either. What was unusual was that this novice filly figured out the game in the stretch, overtaking the field and winning going away. Gizmoson's win was a surprise to the bettors, she went off at 13.90:1 odds. But probably not a surprise to trainer Liberty Lebrun and jockey Omar Rodriguez, whose strategy for this race was perfect. Also not a surprise to owner Sam Vasquez, who is also the breeder of the filly. He has another filly by the same sire that won just a few days ago at Retama Park, in the Independence Sprint Sept 14.

Gizmoson Fire is by the stallion Burning Sand, and out of the mare Cassels Naomi by Brusally Zbrenu.

He is a 4 year old grey gelding, sired by Samsfireball by Sambor, and out of the mare Maibeibi by Sams Fix. Owner Rachelle Russell is thrilled with Sameill's win, but when she went to pick up her photo the finish time on the picture was wrong - it said her horse had won the race in 1:08 and change. Rachelle said, "The correct time is 1:17, but Sammy thinks he is really fast no matter what, he did win the race!"

About the Winner:

This was Dynaglides second race... in her first race, she ran a respectable 2nd. She's starting out her race career in a strong way. Here is her baby picture when she entered the sale 2 years ago.

Here is Dynaglide at the races 2006.

Dynaglide is a bay filly, foaled March 19, 2003. She is by the stallion CHNDAKA, with a superb record of 5/29(8-9-6)5-6 racing in France, England and UAE. Chndaka is a sire of winners and stakes winners in the U.S. and overseas.

Dynaglide is out of the mare Aurora RSM, by By Golly. She has a superb dam line, tail to Toppers Starlight, the dam of 7 foals to race, 7 winners, most famous is PATRIOT MISSLE, 26(16-4-4)15-6, $244,183, Darley Horse of the Year.

Claudia Spears, dam of winning owner Mark Spears.

Dan Spears, head of a racing family at DiamondCrest Arabians. Mark Spears of Chicago, Illinois, and his father Dan- two guys that love the sport.

Winning Breeder, Mandolynn Hill Farm, was named Breeder of the Year in Texas last year. Mandolynn has consistently sold excellent racing prospects both private treaty and at auction, including the famous Love Me Dew, winner of the 2005 Lone Star Futurity and this year's $100,000 Daughters of the Desert futurity at Los Alamitos in California.

Dynaglide's rider in this race is the number 3 leading jockey of the meet, Terry Stanton, with purse earnings of $104,655 for the 20 day period ending September 1.
