About the Winner:

Nassem De Blaziet is a 5 year old bay stallion by the French sire Tidjani and out of the French mare Tebel Du Moulon by Hadr El Basher. Nassem was born in France, and imported to the U.S. as a foal. He has run 19 races, earning money in 15 of these starts. He has won 4 races and has 4 second place finishes to date.

"Nassem has always had a ton of personality from the time that Eric saw him as a baby in France," recalls co-owner Randi Moreau-Sipiere. "Unknown to us, he was actually weaned when they pushed him into the transport van to haul him to Amsterdam when we imported him. His early training went much like his last days in Europe and things did not really come together until recently."

In California, trainer Chuck Treece really connected with Naseem De Blaziet and the horse showed everyone what he was made of. Co-owner Eric Moreau-Sipiere just happened to be out in California when a nice race came up in Texas that fit Naseem, so the horse was hauled to Sam Houston Race Park. Five days later, under the care of Liz Brand, Nassem turned back some nice runners. Still full of personality and never a lame day in his life, he has always been a favorite of his trainers.

"We are expecting some more nice races from him the remainder of this year and next year and we hope to show his versatility at varying distances," Randi said. "We plan to breed him in the spring and race him in the fall and winter."

Blazing Miss was coming off a good try at Retama Park, where she took a second on November 2nd. Tonight was her lucky night, as she proved the best after a battle with Viansa through a long stretch drive.

Blazing Miss is a 3 year old chestnut filly by Virgule Al Maury out of Anna Maria by SX Champion. Sire Virgule Al Maury had a race record of 16(6-2-5)0-2 in England and the UAE. He was stakes placed in three international races from 5F to 1 1/4 miles, and is a 7F record holder. This stallion has been an excellent sire- his sons and daughters have earned well over $2 million.

Blazing Miss's dam, Anna Maria, is also the mother of stakes winners AWE SHUCKS, PARDON MY FRENCH, FRENCH BRAIDS, winner No Bull, and stakes placed Samantha Sheik. Anna Maria is also dam of the mare Faleh Me, who produced stakes winner NOBLE MAN and INSYNC, winners On The Road Again and the greats Paving The Way $96,449, and Just Lyke Me $76,563.

Owner Nancy Blewett had another reason to celebrate this evening. She is a proud grandmother of twins, and held one of her new grandbaby girls, Lily, for the first time this night!
