The Accredited Texas Bred (ATB) program provides Arabian breeder incentives for broodmares and breeding stallions, cash awards for racing horses, and big payouts for all involved. This program was legislated by the State of Texas in the Texas Racing Act to encourage breeding of horses in the state. The program provides for Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses and Arabian horses, each group receiving award moneys from their own individual programs. Approximately $1.6 million in bonus awards are distributed annually through the accredited Texas Bred Program for eligible owners, breeders and stallion owners.
Some Arabian horse participants in the Accredited Texas-Bred program have earned more than $20,000 in one year. The beauty of the program is its simplicity. Any Accredited Texas-Bred horse finishing first, second or third in any race in the state earns money from the program- in addition to his purse win!
This money is automatically paid out to the horse owner, breeder (horse's dam's owner) and even the owner of the sire! You don't have to own a racehorse to win award money- if you are breeding for racing and own the sire or dam of horses that go to the track, you should be participating in this program! Incentive awards are distributed 50% to first,30% to second and 20% to third place finishes.
Money for the payouts comes directly from wagering at the racetracks. This program is DIFFERENT than most of the Arabian breeding incentive programs, because your payouts are coming from an outside source- not from the pooling of your nomination fees.
