Burning Fancy Sets Track Record in Winning Rancho Milagro Yegua Arabian Stakes

OCTOBER 17, 2009 - LONE STAR PARK - Marvin Powell’s Burning Fancy (# 9) set a Lone Star Park track record of 1:31:06 for seven furlongs in winning the 2nd Running of the $9,000 Rancho Milagro Yegua Arabian Stakes, for Arabian fillies and mares 3-years-old and up, over a fast track on Saturday night. The previous record of 1:31.87 was set by By Golly Sand on Nov. 30, 2007.

Trained by Jerry Partin and ridden by Kelsi Purcell, the 3-year-old daughter of Burning Sand was never challenged as she sprinted clear of the field to a commanding lead before drawing off to win by 11 ¼ lengths.

Burning Fancy paid $2.40, $2.20 and $2.10.

LE FROMAGE Wins Estrellita Ranch Arabian Stakes by a head

OCTOBER 17, 2009 - LONE STAR PARK - Gail Murphy’s Le Fromage (# 2), trained by Helen Shelley and ridden by Charles Fletcher, Jr., took the lead at the sixteenth pole then barely held off second-place finisher Frynge Benefit (inside, green cap) to win the 2nd Running of the $9,000 Estrellita Ranch Arabian Stakes, for Arabian colts and geldings, 3-years-old and up, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday.

Le Fromage, an 11-year-old gelding, covered the mile distance in 1:49.50 to win by a head.

Le Fromage paid $10.80, $10.80 and $5.20.

Estrellita Ranch

La Estrellita Ranch Arabian Stake at Lone Star Park was sponsored by Ray and Jane Teutsch of La Estrellita Ranch. Ray and Jane Teutsch have been breeding and racing horses for 28 years with great results. They own not only La Estrellita Ranch in Texas, but the well established Soaring Eagle Ranch in Colorado. Since 1982 they have been breeding Arabian horses for racing. They purchased their first breeding stallion in 2007 to breed to the excellent broodmares that they had accumulated over the years. They believe that the pure french lines bred to their outstanding domestic bred mares will result in a higher level of Arabian Race Horse- Size, Speed, Soundness and Sleekness. Rancho Milagro Yegua

The Rancho Milagro Yegua Arabian Stake at Lone Star Park was sponsored by Ken and Nancy Blewett of RANCHO MILAGRO YEGUA. Rancho Milagro Yegua is located on 300 lush, rolling acres in Central Texas between San Antonio and Austin. It is a luxuriously comfortable facility providing the very best for horses. Their employees, as well as themselves, live on-site enabling them to keep the horses on a regular schedule for daily feed, turnout and 2 hour barn checks from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. During foaling season, 24 hour care is provided. Rancho Milagro Yegua has the expert staff to manage the classic racehorse. The mission of Rancho Milagro Yegua is to create awareness of Arabian racing, to offer world class horses, and give many more people the opportunity to experience the lifestyle of the Arabian horse through ownership and partnerships.

Nancy and Ken are active participants in Arabian racing, and Nancy serves on the board of directors for the Texas Arabian Breeders Association.



The final Winners at the Retama Park Meet

The fall 2009 meet at Retama Park concluded with 2 Allowance races for non-winners of 3 and a Maiden race. Total purse money for these 3 races was $24,500. Like all the Arabian races this fall in Texas, these three races went off with full and competitive fields. Many congratulations to everyone who participated to make this meet a most successful one!
