Notable Arabian Racing leader Jay Corcoran passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 after a battle with cancer. He was 60 years old. Jay served the Arabian Racing Association of California and also served on the Special Projects Committee of the Arabian Jockey Club. Jay entered racing in 1986 on the California Fair circuit, and in the recent years has been at Los Alamitos. Every entry day he was in the office working to fill the Arabian races and to assist owners and trainers up until just a few weeks ago. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Corcoran, also an integral part of our industry as a trainer. They were married for 43 years. Arabian racing enthusiasts at the Los Alamitos track have depended on the knowledgeable and energetic Jay Corcoran as their Arabian breed representative for quite some time. His helpful and optimistic spirit will be sadly missed. As we carry on the mission to nurture and promote Arabian horse racing we are grateful for Jay and others who have passed on, those who worked for these horses and all of us with such dedication. Services are pending at this time. For more info, please call 714-820-2690.
