Arabian Racing Bloodlines
As with all Arabian breeding programs across various disciplines, Arabian race breeding is subject to trends. Trends in breeding occur when a particular sire or a dam line proves successful. In Arabian racing, a Polish bloodline trend in the 90s was replaced with a trend for French racing lines around the beginning of the millenium. While French lines are not historically prevalent in U.S. Arabian breeding history, it should be noted that many of the Russian bloodlines found in the U.S. contain French Arabian blood. In the most recent years, a stallion of Crabbet descent combined with Desert Bred ancestors has been leading sire and very popular. Straight Egyptian lines have also been represented in racing. Who knows the next trend of Arabian racehorse breeding-- the next great winners set the examples for breeders to follow. Perhaps it will be a new cross waiting to be discovered. New owners are encouraged to choose a racing prospect from a well established line of successful racehorses, no matter what pedigree strain. At least one of the parents should be a winner, and your chances of success will be even better if both parents are race winners. The ultimate choice is to find a prospect with both a stakes winning sire and a stakes winning dam, or parents who have both consistently produced stakes horses. This is no doubt the best bet to find the winner's circle.
