Quick Q & A - Accredited Texas-Bred Program (ATB)
1) What horses can be nominated as Accredited Texas Breds?		This program is open to Texas-bred horses who have or or have not started in a race. It is also open to breeding stallions and mares, who are then eligible to receive money based on performance of their offspring.
2) How much does it cost for me to nominate my Texas bred racehorse prospect?		A one time nomination fees puts your Texas horse in the program for life. Nominate early for the best deal. WEANLING $35.00, YEARLING $50.00, TWO-YEAR-OLD $100.00, NON-STARTERSTHREE-YEAR-OLD $200, NON STARTERS FOUR-YEAR-OLD AND UP $200.00, STARTERS FOUR-YEAR-OLD AND UP $500.
3) How much does it cost for me to nominate my broodmare?		Only $50 nominates your broodmare for her lifetime and makes all her foals eligible for nomination to the program. A mare must be nominated as a Accredited Texas-Bred Arabian before she conceives in order for her Breeder to be eligible for purse supplements. Mares not accredited prior to conception must be accredited prior to foaling for the foal to be eligible as a Accredited Texas-Bred Arabian.
4) How much does it cost to nominate my breeding stallion as an Accredited Texas-Bred Stallion?		An Accredited Texas Arabian Stallion is any stallion registered with the Arabian Horse Registry of American, Inc. or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry and accredited with TABA. Stallion must be domiciled and residing in Texas from February 1 through August 15 with the limited exception of leaving the State of Texas for medical, racing, or showing purposes. Stallion Lifetime Accreditation Fee is $50.00, plus Annual Administration Fee of $100.00 due by February 1. If late, penalty is Late Administration Fee $150.00 due by August 15.

DEFINITION as per the Texas Racing Act:

1. "Horse Owner" means a person who is Owner of Record of an Accredited Texas-Bredhorse at the time of a race.

2. "Breeder" means a person who is the Owner of Record at the time of conception of the dam that foals the horse as stated on the foal's Arabian Horse Association or Canadian Arabian Horse Registry certificate of registry.

3. "Stallion Owner" means a person who is the Owner of Record at the time of conception of the stallion that sired the Accredited Texas-Bred horse.

To encourage the breeding of horses in this state, any Accredited Texas-Bred horse finishing first, second, or third in any race in this state (either in open or restricted company) will be eligible for Owner Awards, Breeder Awards, and Stallion Owner Awards.

Owner Awards ARE NOT paid on stakes races restricted to Accredited Texas-Bred horses. However, 10% of the total breakage is used to assist in funding the purses for these restricted stakes. Breeder Awards and Stallion Owner Awards ARE paid on restricted stakes races.

Funding for awards is derived from the breakage and one percent of all multiple (i.e. exotic) wages at each Texas track.

Benefits to "Horse Owner": 40% is allocated to owners of the Accredited Texas-Bred horses that finish first, second, or third.

Benefits to "Breeder": 40% is allocated to the breeders of the Accredited Texas-Bred horses that finish first, second, or third.

Benefits to "Stallion Owner": 20% is allocated to the owner of the Accredited stallion standing in this state at the time of conception and whose annual administrative fees were paid for said breeding season whose Accredited Texas-Bred finished first, second, or third.

4. Accredited Texas-Bred Arabian

An Accredited Texas-Bred Arabian is a horse registered with either the Arabian Horse Association, or Canadian Arabian Horse Registry, accredited with the Texas Arabian Breeders Association and conceived and foaled in Texas, sired by a stallion accredited with the Texas Arabian Breeders Association at the time of conception of said foal and out of a mare accredited with the Texas Arabian Breeders Association that is domiciled in Texas. Also, any horse foaled in Texas will be eligible to be accredited if the mare is accredited prior to foaling. A foal born in Texas from the Accredited Texas-Bred Stallion and Non-Accredited Texas-Bred Mare, can be accredited by paying the appropriate accreditation fee for mare and foal. The mare owner will not be eligible for Breeders Awards for any foals conceived prior to the Accreditation.

5. Accredited Texas Arabian Stallion

An Accredited Texas Arabian Stallion is any stallion registered with the Arabian Horse Association or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry and accredited with Texas Arabian Breeders Association. Stallion must be domiciled and residing in Texas from February 1 through August 15 with the limited exception of leaving the State of Texas for medical, racing, or showing purposes. Whenever an Accredited Texas-Bred stallion leaves the State of Texas for any reason, it is the responsibility of the owner to report annually to the Texas Arabian Breeder's Association the reason and location for each time said stallion leaves and reenters the State of Texas.

Stallion owners are eligible to receive stallion awards only from offspring sired in Texas after the stallion has become accredited with the Texas Arabian Breeders Association and paid the applicable administration fees. Stallion owner will not be eligible for Stallion awards for any foal sired during a year the Administration fee is not paid.

Transportation of semen: For accreditation purposes, the stallion and recipient mare must be standing in Texas at the time of collection and insemination.

A stallion for which frozen semen is used must have satisfied all requirements for Accreditation and be permanently domiciled in Texas during the year of conception. For Frozen semen to be used after a stallion's death, the stallion must, at the time of the stallion's death, have satisfied all requirements for accreditation and been permanently domiciled in Texas.

6. Accredited Texas Arabian Mare

An Accredited Texas Arabian Mare is a mare registered with the Arabian Horse Association, or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry and accredited with Texas Arabian Breeders Association and permanently domiciled in Texas except for racing and breeding privileges. A mare must be Accredited Texas-Bred before said mare conceives in order for Breeder to be eligible for purse supplements. Mares not accredited prior to conception must be accredited prior to foaling for the foal to be eligible as an Accredited Texas-Bred. The mare must be domiciled in Texas at time of conception and at time of foaling, except as covered by definition set forth in Section 1.03(21) of the Act.

Important Conditions of the Accredited Texas-Bred Program

1. If a horse is leased, for the purpose of awards in the Accredited Texas-Bred Program, a lease agreement specifying which party shall received award monies must be on file with Texas Arabian Breeders Association.

2. Breeder Awards will only be paid on Accredited Texas-Bred Arabians whose Dams were accredited with Texas Arabian Breeders Association prior to conception of said Accredited Texas-Bred Arabian.

3. Fees Non-Refundable. Accreditation fees are non-refundable after a work order has been assigned to an eligible entry. If the horse is ineligible, the fee shall be refunded to the applicant.

4. Racing Stock conversion to Breeding Stock. Any Texas-Bred horse who becomes breeding stock must be converted with Texas Arabian Breeders Association to an accredited mare or stallion using the appropriate form and pay required fees.

5. It is the responsibility of the participants in the ATB Program to notify the Texas Arabian Breeders Association of any changes in ownership, address, or to whom the payments are to be made.
