March 27, 2008 at Sam Houston Race Park-- In an exciting race to the finish, the grey six year old stallion By Golly Sand earned his third stakes win in the $11,400 Estrellita Stakes Mile, beating Cromwell by only a nose. The two battled on the stretch, as Cromwell advanced from well off the pace, capturing the lead for only a moment before By Golly Sand prevailed. Djet Set De Falgas, also coming off the pace made a valient bid, finishing only a nose off the leaders. It was a three way race on the stretch with By Golly Sand, Cromwell and Djet Set De Falgas only a head apart. The finishing time of the 1 mile race was 1:50.29

By Golly Sand's previous stakes wins came in the 2006 Tiki Diablo Hall of Fame Classic and the 2007 Mandolynn Hill Farm Handicap. His earnings are now $72,708 in 28 starts.
