TM FRED TEXAS SCORES GAME VICTORY IN ARABIAN STALLION STAKES

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, Nov. 20, 2009) TM Fred Texas, owned by Sam Vasquez and trained by Juan Ascencio, won the $23,400 Arabian Stallion Stakes, for Arabian three-year-olds and upwards, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night.
With Benito Morales in the irons, the gray son of Burning Sand, out of the Kong mare Queen Kong, was fifth after an opening quarter-mile in 24.72, and moved to within a length of early pacesetter, and eventual runner-up, So Big Is Better behind a half-mile in 49.85. TM Fred Texas drew on even terms with So Big Is Better at the top of the stretch, and wore that rival down through the lane to record a one-and-half length victory. The final time for the seven-furlong distance was 1:31.94. Moulin Rouge Maf finished third, 11 lengths behind So Big Is Better.
In victory, TM Fred Texas earned his third win from four starts and increased his earnings to $25,620.
TM Fred Texas paid $10.40, $4.00, $3.60, runner-up So Big Is Better returned $3.20, $2.20, and Moulin Rouge Maf paid $2.40 for show. Ala Bout Me, Chriss SWA, Dancers Traveler, Set Em Up Joe, and Le Fromage completed the order of finish.
